The drive, optimized for dynamics while maintaining quietness, is realized by using two synchronously operated motors and a highly damped kinematic system. The chassis of the IWD01 is split into two levels. It comprises a base made of various woods with integrated damping and an upper layer of high-strength aluminum. The entire chassis of the Thiele IWD01 is designed to connect the ultra-optimized drive to the tonearm as rigidly as possible and to eliminate all resonances within the turntable as effectively as possible by employing various damping measures.
The result of this concept is a very dynamic sound image, extremely spatial playback through the tonearm without tracking error, and absolute quietness through effective damping of all resonances in the drive, the chassis, and the tonearm.
